Big Day!

Today was a big day in the G household!

This morning we got to see baby G at our ultrasound. The baby didn't cooperate to show what's between the legs (or what's not between the legs!) but we got to see that everything looks good and baby is healthy! That's what counts most anyway and now we'll just be surprised in November whether we will be filling a closet with pink or blue clothes!

This afternoon, after her nap, I started potty training A. I'm following the method set up by this lady. A girlfriend of mine just did it last week with her little boy and had some great success. So hopefully it will work for us too.

We put on big girl panties at 3:30 this afternoon and threw away the diapers! At 5:50 she still had dry, clean undies. By 6:30 we had gone through 8 pair of underwear. Apparently when I pick her up to bring her to the potty after she starts to go, it makes her stop going. So then we sit on the potty (not going), wipe, wash hands, put on clean undies, and I go wash up the floor where she started. But because she stopped going when I picked her up, she's not done and within a few minutes she's going again.

It took me a few rounds of three or four accidents right in a row to figure this out. I still don't really know how to change it, but at least I am expecting it now.

Tonight we just played in the bathroom with the water running when she said she had to go potty (but didn't go) and when she started going I moved her right over to the potty but the same thing happened. This probably means she really wasn't "running on empty" when she went to bed. But I am mentally prepared for a long night, so hopefully that helps.

So that's our big 5th of July in the G house!

We had a fantastic weekend with a lot of family and friends around! It's fun to think that next year baby G will be 8 months old at the 4th! Wowza!
