Today was A's first day of school!
A nearby town has an infant ECFE class and we signed up for it! It was a lot of fun to visit with other mommies and to watch A check out all these other infants. She seemed to like it. She made her excited sound a lot of the time we were there. (The noise she was making opening the present in a FB video.) We introduced ourselves and our babies, we sang songs, we read stories and other fun things like that. The hour went by really fast and I'm looking forward to next week! It's only a 4 week program, but next fall she'll be in the 1-2 year old ECFE class where it's once a week the entire school year. And we'll be in that class with MLN, a 'friend' of A's! (More like MLN's mom, JN, and I have plans for them to be friends as they grow up!)
I ordered a book today about helping your baby sleep better. A slept so awesome from mid June to mid October, but hasn't slept well since then. We'll see if this book will have any good ideas for me. This morning J asked me how A did last night and I honestly couldn't remember if she had been up two or three times during the night because I was so tired when he asked.
For a week or so, I could just go into the nursery during the night and soothe her back to sleep by walking around with her, maybe singing a little song or something like that, but not needing to nurse her. Now for the last week she's back to wanting to nurse each time she's up, and I know she doesn't need to, so I'm willing to look into other options.
My guess is it will be a long week or two (hopefully not more than that) when I do start making her cry it out during the night so she remembers how to soothe herself. I know she can do it, it's just like she's forgotten how to find her thumb in the middle of the night now. :( Hopefully we can figure it out soon. I think it's harder to go back to having to be up during the night that it would have been if she would have just kept doing like she was doing when she was 8 months old. Then she only got up once, maybe twice, each night. Now we are up at least two times, if not three, four or five times each night.
Anyway, she's sleeping now, so I think I'm going to take a nap! One of the (thousands of) perks of being a stay at home mommy is that I can sleep when she does. Even though my house needs to be picked up and I have company coming tomorrow... I am deciding that a nap is priority because I've had to hit the delete button at least 100 times in typing this, a sure sign my brain is tired!
